Welcome to the neighborhood known as “The Village”. The front garden of this “Village” home is wild, eclectic and mostly drought tolerant. There are succulents mixed with bunny tail grass, palm trees, lavender, milkweed, day lilies and Flowering sweet pea vines. The bunny tail grass dries in the summer and provides a bit of shade for any delicate succulents. Walk up the driveway into a backyard shaded by an old podocarpus tree where you will Find several outdoor living areas. Take the pathway to a back dining area passing by 50-year-old camelia bushes, Australian tree ferns, clivia, cala lilies, and a few tropical plants. Meander past the leptospermum bush/tree where tillandsias, Spanish moss and schizanthus (poor man’s orchid) are hiding in the branches. Peek behind the foliage next to the garden shed and you will Find the owner’s worm farm, the site of the worm castings (aka: worm poop) factory that provides fertilizer for the garden’s soil.
