Carol is very proud to be a first-time participant in the Mary Lou Heard Memorial Garden Tour. Her house is a designated Historical home in Santa Ana designed by Cliff May that was built in 1955, and the best way to describe her landscape is “A Party Garden” with many distinct areas.  There is a front rose and flower garden with over 25 different roses, a large patio area featuring Shiny Xylosma shrubs that were allowed to grow over 50 years into evergreen shade trees, and a lawn surrounded by flower beds along the side of the house.  In the back are a Koi Pond and a sitting/dining area. Her vegetable garden features many heirloom tomatoes and an assortment of other vegetables and herbs. In fact, you will see herbs spread throughout the entire yard to support Carol’s love of outdoor cooking.

Carol loved Mary Lou’s Nursery, where she took classes, sought refuge from a hard day’s work, and brought her mother for a chance to smile and laugh during a time of illness and failing health. She hopes her garden achieves the same for anyone attending the tour.
