This Garden began in 2017 when Nick and his partner bought the property. Nick’s passion for gardening began when he was 12 years old, sparked by the mentorship of his dear friend Sharon Neely. Sharon was a Master Gardener and a member of the Mary Lou Heard Foundation.
In the yard you will find an impressive collection of plants from many different regions and a variety of temperaments which is why this entire property is watered BY HAND. Succulents may sit right beside thirstier flowers, but their carefully planned soil compositions ensure that each one gets the right amount of moisture- or lack thereof!
Hundreds of terra cotta pots have been thoughtfully placed in the garden. These pots add dimension, height and personality to the yard and have the bottoms removed to allow for the roots to reach the earth. This combination of plants, flowers (many grown from seeds and bulbs), succulents, pots and hanging baskets make this yard very unique and fun to tour.
Each season brings new eye candy. In Spring, the roses and poppies burst into bloom. In the Summer, the garden is alive with bright colors from zinnias, cosmos, verbena and sunflowers. As Fall arrives, roses and dahlias usually give one last flush of blooms. Come Winter (when many of the plants are resting or without leaves and the flowers are gone) the succulents take the show with their most vibrant colors from the cold nights. No matter the time of year, there’s always something beautiful to see or something delicious to smell.
Editor’s Note: Treat yourself to this New-to-the Tour garden that’s sure to delight your senses. This riot of color is a MUST SEE!
